]]>The date was revealed at Comin-Con via a sizzle reel/announcement which features a homage to the series pilot.
“This is it, the final season of Lucifer. For real this time,” reads the official synopsis. “The devil himself has become God… almost. Why is he hesitating? And as the world starts to unravel without a God, what will he do in response? Join us as we say a bittersweet goodbye to Lucifer, Chloe, Amenadiel, Maze, Linda, Ella and Dan. Bring tissues.”
“It is very much our goodbye season,” though it does follow was originally thought to be the series’ swan song (until Netflix ordered an additional batch of 10 episodes). “There is a story that we didn’t know we would have to tell until we got to the point we got to [in the Season 5 finale]. And once we got there and looked around, we realized that there was an entire engine for an entire season worth of storytelling that we’re excited about,” co-showrunner Joe Henderson previously told TVLine.

]]>Netflix’s official logline for the series is: “The stakes are higher than ever. Secrets will be revealed, beloved characters will die, and we’ll finally get an answer to the question, ‘Will they or won’t they?’”
Tom Ellis will return to play Lucifer and it looks like Lauren German’s Chloe Decker has not been okay since he left. We’ll also meet Lucifer’s twin brother Michael, who appears to be stronger and less inhibited than Lucifer.
The series will return with the first half of Season 5 on August 21 and the full season will consist of 16 episodes. The second half of the season has not received a release date.
Back in June, Netflix renewed Lucifer for a “FINAL final” six season. Netflix picked up the show from Fox after it was canceled in May 2018 after three seasons after a #SaveLucifer campaign that happened on social media for over a month.

]]>This is the second time Netflix has renewed the series for a “final” season. The show aired on Fox for three years before being canceled and moving to Netflix for Season 4 in 2018. Last year, it was announced that Season 5 would be the last.
During the announcement, the show said Season 6 would be the “FINAL final” season.
Lucifer follows Tom Ellis, a fallen angel and Lord of Hell, who works with the LAPD and helps detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) take down criminals.
Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Scarlett Estevez, and Rachael Harris also star in the series.
Season 5 is set to premiere later this year and it will consist of 16 episodes. The first eight will be released on August 21 and the second half of Season 5 hasn’t received a release date.

]]>Entertainment Weekly reports that Lucifer’s season five’s 10th episode will be a musical episode.
The musical-themed episode titled “Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam” will feature multiple musical numbers, according to the outlet.
“We wanted to have a real grounded story reason why they’re singing and dancing, and not just, ‘Oh, this is going to be the one where everybody sings and dance,’” showrunner Ildy Modrovich told EW. “It’s been a little game of Tetris [planning the episode] but it’s super fun. It’s going to be amazing. It’s going to be just such a bucket list thing for me.”
The first part of Lucifer’s final season is set to debut on Netflix later this year.

]]>Folioing the supernatural crime drama’s final season pick up by Netflix just last month, the streaming giant now announced that it has added six episodes to the season’s count.
News of the expanded send-off was announced Friday via Netflix’s See What’s Next account.
“Lucifer Season 5 just got a HELL of a lot better — and bigger,” it reads. “We’ve added six more hours, for a grand total of 16 episodes!”
While 16 episodes are much better than the initially planned 10, the final season of the show is still considerably shorter than when originally ran on Fox. The first three installments of the series had 26 episodes each.
“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for … letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms. Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!” co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson said of the original final-season pickup.

]]>Mass support from the public earned Brooklyn Nine-Nine a 6th season with NBC after it was canceled by FOX, while Sense8 fans rallied for the Netflix series to have a 2-hour finale.
Now, Lucifer fans appear to be rushing to the show’s defence.
FOX cancelled the series about the bored devil after, with the third season being its last.
Lead actor, Tom Ellis, has revealed that “a conversation has been sparked by this. And we are trying to find a place,” to carry on the series.
“Because Warner Bros are an independent studio, they don’t have a network, it means there are other places we can take it and those are potentially exciting places,” he told BBC Newsnight.
