“I screen-tested for The Batman and didn’t get it. Screen-tested for Top Gun, didn’t get it. Then I got the call from Tom Cruise: ‘Hey, how about Mission Impossible? ‘Ok. Got it. Then I had to drop out because I was already attached to do some more of The Great,” Hoult told The Guardian.
Despite losing the roles in some of the most acclaimed action movies in recent years, Hoult’s career is on the right track. He received Emmy and Golden Globe nods for his role in The Great, and his last film The Menu was embraced by critics and moviegoers alike.
Hoult will next be seen in Robert Eggers’s Nosferatu alongside Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and he’s also eying a role in Clint Eastwood’s Juror No. 2.

]]>Robert Pattinson will clearly be taking no prisoners when he embodies the Dark Knight for Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
The new trailer for the upcoming film, released at DC FanDome 2021, presents like a film noir. A dark, brooding tone is present, with it apparent that Reeves’ interpretation will be fairly violent.
It was announced during last year’s DC event that The Riddler would be the main villain, with Paul Dano assuming the role. He will be joined by Colin Farrell as Penguin, while Zoë Krawitz takes on Catwoman. The chemistry between her and Pattinson is clearly evident in the trailer, so expect some charged moments!
Speaking of the titular character, the Tenet stars seems to have gotten Batman’s voice down pat(tinson) based on what we’ve heard (sorry, we had to!)
This is also the youngest incarnation of Bruce Wayne that we’ve seen, and you can just feel raw frustration simmering below the surface…
All will be revealed when The Batman hits screens on March 4, 2022.

The Batman director Matt Reeves and the film’s producer Dylan Clark would executive produce. The show would dive into The Penguin’s rise to power in the Gotham criminal underworld.
The Penguin, a.k.a. Oswald Cobblepot, is one of the famous members of Batman. The character has been played by Burgess Meredith, Danny DeVito, and Robin Lord Taylor.
The Batman is scheduled to be released in March 2022 in theaters. Robert Pattinson will be playing the Dark Knight and Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, and Andy Serkis are also part of the cast.
If the Penguin series goes forward, it will be the second spinoff series from The Batman at HBO Max. The streamer has ordered a drama set within the Gotham Police Department. There are several DC shows in the works at the network including Suicide Squad spinoff Peacemaker starring John Cena, a Green Lantern series from Greg Berlanti, and a Justice League Dark series from J.J. In August Reeves said the show will go back to Year One when the masked vigilante first appeared in the city and will follow events through the eyes of the police and the corruption that has spread within it.

“For me, the idea of this story was a story in which Gotham, which has this depth of corruption, and then the idea that we could actually do a series that is going deeper into an aspect of it, which in this case is the corrupt police department and the corrupt inner workings of the city,” he said.
“The idea is we go back to year one and year one is the beginning,” Reeves continued. “It’s the first appearance of this masked vigilante that unsettles the city.”
Reeves then detailed how the appearance of Batman and the way that it affects the police force will greatly shape the series.

We also see Robert Pattinson in the Batsuit and driving the Batmobile and a few clips of Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman.
“The hell you suppose to be?” asks the leader of white-painted face gang to the Batman in the trailer. “I’m vengeance,” Robert Pattinson’s Batman replies.
During the panel, Reeves said that The Batman won’t be an origin story, but that it will start in “Year Two” of Batman’s emergence where Batman, Catwoman, the Riddler, and the Penguin (Collin Farrell) are in the beginning stages of their development. Batman also uncovers corruption in the city and how it may tie back to the wealthy and powerful Wayne family.
