“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” has been making waves on the charts since its release, and its most recent milestone is the biggest one yet. The hit song from Encanto just topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming just the second song from a Disney animated movie to do so.

“Bruno” joins “A Whole New World”, the theme song from Aladdin, as the second song from a Disney animated movie to soar to no. 1. “Breaking Free” from High School Musical and “Let It Go” from Frozen previously made it to the top five.

“Bruno” previously peaked at no. 2 before reaching the top spot, while its parent album Encanto soundtrack returned to the top of the Billboard 200 chart for the third week in a row. The smash-hit was performed by several members of the Encanto cast, including Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, and Stephanie Beatriz.

It also marks the first no. 1 hit for the song’s sole writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, who admitted he didn’t anticipate its enormous success, but he credits it to the song’s catchy melody and the portrayal of the Madrigal family’s dynamics. Unfortunately, “Bruno” isn’t in contention for an Academy Award because Disney decided to submit “Dos Oruguitas” instead.
