A League of Their Own is one of the most delightful new shows to premiere on Amazon Prime last year, but its end is near. The period sports comedy has been renewed for a four-episode second season, but this will reportedly mark its final chapter.

The acclaimed series is based on Penny Marshall’s 1992 film of the same name, and it centers on the formation of the Rockford Peaches, a WWII-era women’s professional baseball team. The series is loosely based on the film and it introduces a new group of characters.

Abbi Jacobson, who co-created A League of Their Own alongside Will Graham for Amazon Prime, also played the lead role. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Roberta Colindrez, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Kelly McCormack, Molly Ephraim, Melanie Field, and Priscilla Delgado.

Several reliable sources confirmed that A League of Their Own is ending its run with Season 2, but its co-creator Will Graham believes it’s possible to prolong its run.

A League Of Their Own is not a small or niche show. The audience is domestic, but our understanding is that it’s very big. It has outperformed many other shows that have been renewed… if you want to see more episodes or more seasons of this show, now is your moment. People are listening,” Graham wrote on Twitter.
