After finding success with Hocus Pocus 2 last year, Disney+ is looking into expanding this franchise. The Sanderson sisters will be back for more witchy action in another sequel after Disney officially greenlit Hocus Pocus 3.

Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, confirmed they’re plotting another movie in a recent interview with The New York Times. This announcement doesn’t come as a shocker after Hocus Pocus 2 set a record for streaming minutes by a movie on Nielsen’s weekly chart, drawing more than 2.7 billion minutes in just a few days after its release on September 30.

Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker are expected to reprise their roles, and it’s not surprising to see them come back after Midler said she’d like to explore the relationship of the Sanderson sisters in another film.

“After 30 years with no sequel to Hocus Pocus, I’ve always been envious of people who get to do their favorite character more than once. After 30 years of promoting the idea, I’m glad we got to do it. I’d love to have a franchise – especially a character I love playing,” said Midler.

The original Hocus Pocus achieved cult status after its premiere in 1993, and it centers on a trio of Salem witches wracking havoc after being resurrected by a teenage boy on Halloween night.
