Tenet‘s John David Washington is no stranger to mind-bending sci-fi films, and he has another one on the way. The Golden Globe-nominated actor stars in the first trailer for the sci-fi epic The Creator, the futuristic tale about the impact of interfacial intelligence on the modern world.
The Creator centers on a hardened ex-special forces agent Joshua (Washington) after he’s been enlisted to track down the Creator, the elusive mastermind behind an advanced AI technology who developed a weapon capable of terminating both the war and mankind itself.
Joshua must join forces with a team of elite operatives and journey into the heart of AI-occupied territory, only to find out that the mysterious weapon is actually an AI in the form of a young child.
The Creator hails from Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), who directed the film and co-wrote the script alongside Chris Weitz. In addition to Washington, this sci-fi action thriller will also star Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Madeleine Yuna Voyles, Allison Janney, Ralph Ineson, and Marc Menchaca.
The first footage from The Creator was unveiled at CinemaCon last month, and the film is scheduled to be released on September 29 by 20th Century Studios.
