It looks as though Christopher Nolan will be serving up another blockbuster. The veteran filmmaker behind Inception, The Dark Knight series and Tenet is no stranger to epic films, and his latest seems to be following suit.

Exactly one year to the day before its release, Nolan unveiled the poster for his forthcoming flick, Oppenheimer. The movie will focus on J. Robert Oppenheimer who was known as the mastermind behind the atomic bomb. The poster featured Cillian Murphy as the titular scientist standing amidst plumes of fire and smoke, with the tagline “The world forever changes”.

Nolan chose to release the teaser trailer for Oppenheimer ahead of the screening of one of the most-anticipated films of the summer, Nope.

Shot in black and white, the film looks to be a tense depiction of Oppenheimer’s life. The teaser features a countdown of 11 months, 24 days, 15 hours, and 29 minutes, alluding to the launch of the first nuclear weapon by the United States at 5:29 a.m. on July 16, 1945. An ominous voiceover can be heard describing Murphy’s character as “the most important man who ever lived.”

Oppenheimer will hit theatres on July 21, 2023.
