Ever since the 2005 comedy Wedding Crashers starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn was released, there have been talks about a sequel.

While there have been reports that Wilson, Vaughn, Isla Fisher, and Rachel McAdams were for making a sequel for HBO Max and that production would be starting this summer, Wilson told Variety the sequel is still in the early planning stages.

“Some people are saying that you guys are going to be going in August, and that’s not right,” Wilson told Variety, adding that director David Dobkin “has been working on something,” and that he has been “talking with Vince”.

“If we all agree that we have a good idea, then we’re trying to make something good. But it’s sort of figuring out what that idea would be and if we think we could do something worthwhile,” Wilson added.

This isn’t the first time there’s been talks about a sequel. In 2014, Dobkin said on a Quora forum that he was brainstorming an idea for a sequel with Wilson and Vaughn with Daniel Craig in a Speedo. In 2016, while on the Today show, Fisher said that New Line Cinema was working on sequel.
