Studio Ghibli is Back in Action

The master of anime is returning to his kingdom.

Despite the characters appearing cute and innocent, it is not only children who adore the work of Studio Ghibli which often places said characters in very dark scenarios.

The studio shut down in 2013 following the retirement of its creator, Hayao Miyazaki. But, Mr. Miyazaki has now decided to return!

And his comeback is set to be a family affair. The 78-year-old will be joined by his son, Goro, who previously worked with him on 2011’s From Up on Poppy Hill. The pair will be bring us two films, one of which is likely to be How Do You Live? which the senior Miyazaki began working on 3 years ago.

The film follows a 15-year-old boy named Koperu who moves into his uncle’s house after his father’s death and undergoes a journey of spiritual growth.

The feature-length piece is hoped to be released in time for Tokyo’s hosting of the 2020 Olympics.

Sounds like it’s time to be spirited away!
