“Oh, my God – totally! If Katniss could ever come back into my life, 100 percent… My producing partner just clutched her heart,” she told Variety.
Lawrence’s statement doesn’t come as a shocker since she previously told The New York Times that The Hunger Games movies were fantastic and that the only thing that gave her pause about them was the level of fame they would bring into her life.
The Hunger Games franchise will go on without Lawrence, and the prequel about the young Coriolanus Snow, titled The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is set to come out this year. The Oscar-winning star jokingly told The New York Times that this news makes her feel “old as mold” because she’s fully aware that The Hunger Games films will most likely be remade one day, but she’ll be too old to play Katniss when that moment comes.

Don’t Look Up will be McKay’s first directorial effort since his Oscar-nominated Dick Cheney biopic Vice, and he can’t wait to join forces with Lawrence to bring this story to life.
“I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite act. And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way,” said the Academy Award-winning filmmaker.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t McKay’s only project that Lawrence is attached to star in. The Hunger Games actress is also expected to play the lead role in Bad Blood, the story of disgraced biotech entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes.

The story in Carpenters’ 1992 book spans across the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s following a woman who became a real-life mob wife and then later a police informant.
Variety, which was first to report the news, writes, “The film follows Brickman who grows up among racketeers on the Lower East Side of New York City where she’s drawn to the glamorous and flashy lifestyle of New York mobsters. Soon after, she begins dating ‘wiseguys’ and running errands for them, before getting in on the action herself — eventually becoming a police informant and a major witness in the government’s case against the Colombo crime family.”
“Seeing this story from a woman’s point of view is a fresh and exciting approach to telling a classic mob story,” says Makeready Founder and CEO, Brad Weston. “We could not imagine a more perfect team of stellar filmmakers, with Jennifer starring in a tour de force role and Paolo at the helm, to bring Arlyne’s strength and unique perspective to life on screen.”

]]>The frequent director-actress collaborators got candid about working together. The duo has collaborated on a trio of films together —Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and Joy, which grosses a very impressive $588.7M at the global box office.
The first time the two worked together was on Silver Linings Playbook. But Russell had his doubts working with the young actress and she was the last to board the project.
“For Silver Linings,” he said, “we thought you were too young and there were other actresses in the front of the line who were close to getting the role.”
But getting to work with Russell’s was a formative experience for Lawrence who told the director, “You shaped me.”
“I would put it this way: She showed up and she was, like, a raw talent that had no neuroses and no self-consciousness,” Russell said. “She was completely fearless. She would come into the scene like a weather system and leave me and Bob [De Niro] and Bradley [Cooper] and Jacki Weaver and Chris Tucker just kind of like, wow.”
By the time he began working on American Hustle Russell knew he wanted to work with Lawrence but she was “technically not available.”
“I called her up on her vacation and I said, ‘I feel like I would be remiss as your friend if I did not give you one last chance to say no to this role,” he recalled. “You said, ‘will I get to have big hair and long nails and be crazy?’ And I said yes, and you said, ‘Okay, I’ll do it.’”
