]]>Ella McCkay marks Brooks’ first film since the 2010 rom-com How Do You Know starring Owen Wilson and Reese Witherspoon. It will center on an idealistic young politician, who’s preparing to take over the job of her mentor, the state’s longtime incumbent governor, while juggling familial issues and a challenging work life.
In addition to Mackey (S-x Education) and Harrelson (The Hunger Games), this promising project will also star Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Albert Brooks (Drive), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), and Spike Fearn (Tell Me Everything).
Steve Asbell, president of 20th Century Studios, said they’re looking forward to joining forces with Brooks for his first film in years.
“As one of the most empathetic dramatists of our time, James Brooks has set the bar across film and television for decades. Jim is also a foundational element in the bedrock of 20th and we couldn’t be more proud to support him in his long-awaited return to the director’s chair,” said Asbell in a statement.

]]>A Guy Walks Into A Bar hails from screenwriter Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level, Venom) and it centers on a mild-mannered new father (Nanjiani) who strikes a friendship with a charismatic yet mysterious man (Rockwell) at a bar, but quickly starts suspecting him of concealing a troubling secret.
This is the second collaboration between Fleder and Rosenberg, who previously worked on their debut feature Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead. They’re producing the film alongside Rockwell, Mark Fasano of Nickel City Pictures, Nadine de Barros of Fortitude International, and Jina Panebianco of Caliwood Pictures, while Nanjiani serves as one of the executive producers.
Rockwell most recently starred alongside Saoirse Ronan in the murder mystery See How They Run, and he’ll next appear in Matthew Vaughn’s star-studded spy action comedy Argylle. Nanjiani is fresh off his Emmy-nominated role in Hulu’s true crime series Welcome to Chippendales, and we’ll soon get to see him in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel.

]]>Even though it serves as the sixth installment in the Insidious horror franchise, Thread is an offshoot project. Like the previous films, it will examine everyday people caught up with demonic entities—this time through the story of a husband and wife who use a mysterious spell to travel back in time and prevent the death of their young daughter to dire consequences.
Moore has been looking for new roles since wrapping up This Is Us after six seasons just last year. She’s set to star opposite Edgar Ramirez in the second season of Peacock’s anthology series Dr. Death, in addition to being attached to Hulu’s series Twin Flames.
As for the Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani, we’ve seen him in several high-profile projects in recent years. He led the true crime series Welcome to Chippendales, in addition to starring in Disney+ smash hit Obi-Wan Kenobi just last year. He’ll next be seen in the untiled Ghostbusters: Afterlife this winter, in addition to voicing Universal’s star-studded animated film Migration.

]]>Ghostbusters: Afterlife was released in 2021 as the latest installment in the iconic franchise, and its success granted a follow-up. Not much is known about the sequel at the moment, but it’s expected to return to New York City and the firehouse setting of the original movies.
Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon will reprise their roles from Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, and Ernie Hudson also returning. No news yet if the sequel will feature other stars of the original franchise, including Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.
In addition to Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt, James Acaster and Emily Alyn Lind also joined this exciting sequel. Gil Kenan is coming on board as a director, while Jason Reitman will serve as producer and co-writer alongside Kenan and Jason Blumenfeld.
Eternals star Nanjiani has been pretty busy throughout 2022 and he received acclaim for the lead role in the true crime mini-series Welcome to Chippendales. As for Oswalt, his most recent credits include Netflix’s The Sandman and sports comedy 80 for Brady.

]]>The eight-episode series will tell the true story of Chippendales’ founder Banerjee who introduced male exotic dancers at the Chippendales bar in West L.A., franchised the concept to multiple cities, and had troupes tour across the county. He was also indicted in a murder-for-hire plot in the 1987 killing of Chippendales choreographer Nick De Noia, and ended up pleading guilty to lesser charges before hanging himself in jail prior to sentencing.
The series is written by Robert Siegel and executive produced by Siegel, Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, Dylan Sellers, Chris Parker, Rajiv Joseph, and Mehar Sethi. Joseph and Sethi will also write on the series. Producing is 20th Television.
Nanjiani is known for starring in Silicon Valley and he appeared in Portlandia, Franklin & Bash, Adventure Time, and The Twilight Zone reboot. He’s set to appear in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series at Disney Plus. In regards to film, the actor has been in The Big Sick and will appear in Marvel’s Eternals.

The film was supposed to premiere worldwide at SXSW on March 6, but the movies’ cast and director made a last-minute decision not to attend the festival for safety reasons.
The Lovebirds joins Sonic the Hedgehog, The Invisible Man, Onward, I Still Believe, Bloodshot, The Hunt, Emma, Birds of Prey, and The Way Back, which are all headed straight for a home release.
Netflix has not set a release date yet, but you can watch the trailer below.

According to Variety, The Big Sick and Silicon Valley star will portray a journalist who uncovers a conspiracy, which places the fate of the election in his hands with America’s first viable independent presidential candidate poised for victory.
“Kumail is a great actor with global recognition and he serves as the cornerstone for an incredible ensemble cast that we are excited to announce shortly,” said Brian O’Shea of The Exchange.

]]>The Oscar nominated comedian is in talks to join Marvel’s The Eternals. Already on the call sheet is Angelina Jolie. The feature which is set to shoot this year is directed by Chloe Zhao from a script penned by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.
The feature is based on the 1976 comic book series created by Jack Kirby. The story follows the super-powered and near-immortal creators, Eternals, and their villainous offshoot, Deviants, that were created by cosmic beings known as Celestials after they experimented on humans. The two groups battled each other throughout history.
According to The Hollywood Repoter, Jolie will play Sersi, an outgoing Eternal who is not afraid to move amongst humankind. Details about what character Nanjiani would play are being kept under wraps.

Unfortunately, his plan fails to take into account language barriers, ancient racism and the tendency of medieval men to commit murder. Instead of learning from these Great Men of History, our hero has no choice but to hunt them down and blast them to the past before they can ruin our future.
