The post Roseanne Barr Plans to Move to Israel once “The Conners” Premiers appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Barr recently made an appearance on Rabbi Shmuley Boteach’s podcast and was asked whether she will watch The Conners. She responded that she doesn’t plan on watching the show and will move to Israel for a few months instead.
“I have an opportunity to go to Israel for a few months and study with my favorite teachers over there, and that’s where I’m going to go and probably move somewhere there and study with my favorite teachers,” – the 65-year-old told Shmuley. “I have saved a few pennies and I’m so lucky I can go.”
Barr also wasn’t keen on giving more elaborate answers when pressed to offer her opinion on the spinoff and the death of her character on the original show.
“I’m staying away from it. Not wishing bad on anyone and I don’t wish good for my enemies,” – she said. “That’s what I gotta do.”
At first, ABC’s revival of their ’90s sitcom Roseanne, which starred Roseanne Barr in the leading role, was a huge success and the most watched comedy in 2017/2018 TV season. But, the network decided to pull the plug on the revival in May after series of controversial tweets posted by Barr on her official Twitter account.
After the cancelation of the original show, ABC started working on a spinoff which would star the rest of Roseanne’s cast including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, and Jayden Rey. The network officially confirmed the spinoff, now titled The Conners, in June setting the premiere date for October 16, 2018.

]]>Roseanne returned for a 10th season in late March — a full 21 years after the series ended its original run. The show — which received top ratings — was commissioned for an 11th season before Roseanne released a racist remark on Twitter. A tweet that prompted ABC to immediately cancel the show.
It was announced last month that the network would be producing a spin-off of the series entitled The Connors without its lead actress, but with the remaining members of the cast such as John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalf all returning.
In an interview with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the 65-year-old said of the spin-off, “I didn’t ask to be paid off. I asked for nothing, and I just stepped away… because that is penance. I put a lot of thought into it.”
The Connors is expected to premiere in the fall.

]]>The 65-year-old is not the most popular person in Hollywood at the moment after making racist remarks regarding a senior advisor to former US President, Barack Obama.
The incident resulted in her number 1 TV show, Roseanne, first being canceled by ABC, and then picked up as a spin-off called The Connors with which she will have no involvement.
However, a fellow comedian feels that Roseanne should not have been fired.
The host of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry Seinfeld, told Entertainment Tonight that he didn’t see why it was necessary to fire the actress.
“Why would you murder someone who’s committing suicide? But I never saw someone ruin their entire career with one button push. That was fresh.”
Jerry also feels that ABC could have replaced Roseanne when The Connors hits screens in the fall.
“I think they should get another Roseanne,” he said. “They brought Dan Conner back, he was dead and they brought him back. So, why can’t we get another Roseanne? There are other funny women that could do that part. You need to get the comic in there. I hate to see a comic lose a job.”
We wonder if he would be interested?

]]>Last month, ABC decided to cancel its revival of Roseanne after its star, Roseanne Barr, made racist remarks on Twitter in reference to an aide of former US President, Barack Obama.
The tweet resulted in the network immediately canceling the series which was ranked number one and had already been renewed for a second season.
Following discussions between producers and network executives, ABC has now decided to order a spin-off which will focus on the remaining members of the family.
The 10-episode series, entitled The Connors, will feature the same cast and crew as Roseanne, while the 65-year-old will retain all rights to her characters, but will not have any creative or financial participation in the spin-off.
John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman are all expected to star in the new show whose premiere date has not yet been revealed.
You’re up, Connors.

]]>Despite Roseanne being canceled last week, rumors are rife that a spin-off could be in the works. ABC announced that the revival of the show — which had already been renewed for a second season — would be canceled following remarks made by its star, Roseanne Barr.
Last week, the network and producers of the show reportedly met to discuss possibilities of a spin-off, with Variety saying that talks are still on-going.
One of the options for the spin-off is a Darlene-centric show.
The biggest hurdle for a spin-off could be that Roseanne gains financially from the show (as she created the characters) which ABC and producers will not agree to.
We’ll have to wait and see.

]]>In a “blink and you’d miss it” moment, Roseanne has been canceled.
The revival of the ’90s sitcom, which featured the same cast of Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert, has been a rating topper for ABC.
So what prompted the network’s decision to cancel the show which had already been commissioned for a second season?
Roseanne herself.
The 65-year-old made a racist remark on Twitter that led to the cancelation. Barr apologized for the since-deleted tweet by saying “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me — my joke was in bad taste.”
In light of the incident, ABC declared: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values and we have decided to cancel her show.”
Sara Gilbert, who played Darlene, reacted to the news on Twitter by condemning Roseanne’s actions:
Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.
— sara gilbert (@THEsaragilbert) May 29, 2018
Grey’s Anatomy producer, Shonda Rhimes, also felt that Roseanne got what she deserved:
But honestly she got what she deserved. As I tell my 4 year old, one makes a choice with one’s actions. Roseanne made a choice. A racist one. ABC made a choice. A human one.

Maybe Roseanne should have left Twitter, after all.

Roseanne — who is Jewish — is an avid advocate for Jewish rights.
She followed up her first tweet with one that explained her reason for leaving Facebook 5 years ago:
i already deleted facebook five years ago when the anti semitism there became toxic. I am leaving all social media except instagram.

i will still read my dm's so that I can continue to introduce fighters to other fighters here.
