]]>Zac Efron, Andrew Santino, and Jermaine Fowler star as two BFFs who’ve been using a fake friend Ricky Stanicky as an alibi for their immature behavior for 20 years—until their spouses and partners get suspicious and ask to finally meet him.
“The guilty trio decide to hire washed-up actor and raunchy celebrity impersonator “Rock Hard” Rod (John Cena) to bring him to life. But when Rod takes his role of a lifetime too far, they begin to wish they’d never invented Ricky in the first place,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
Ricky Stanicky hails from the Oscar-winning Green Book filmmaker Peter Farrelly, who co-wrote the script that went through many hands after originally landing on the Black List back in 2010. This buddy comedy will also star William H. Macy, Lex Scott Davis, and Anja Savcic, and it’s expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 7.

]]>The Iron Claw is inspired by the true story of brothers Kevin and Kerry Von Erich, two of the most prominent members of the Von Erich wrestling dynasty. They ruled the ring for decades and found enormous success after popularizing the iron claw professional wrestling hold, but their triumphs were overshadowed by many personal tragedies, which sparked rumors about the Von Erich curse.
Efron and White will portray Kevin and Kerry Von Erich, and they’ll be in pretty good company. The star-studded cast of this project also includes Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich, Stanley Simons as Mike Von Erich, Holt McCallany as Fritz Von Erich, Maura Tierney as Doris Von Erich, and Lily James as Kevin’s wife, Pam Adkisson.
The Iron Claw was written and directed for A24 by Martha Marcy May Marlene helmer Sean Durkin. The film will hit the theaters on December 24, and it’s still not connected to any fall film festivals.

Their rise through the ranks started during the 1960s and they kept on ruling the world of wrestling for the decades to come. The term “Von Erich Curse” was coined after a series of deaths of family members, and it’s connected to a cautionary tale about parental influence, sibling rivalry, and the dangers of professional wrestling.
Durkin serves as both writer and director, while Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger, and Harrison Huffman are set to produce alongside A24. House Productions developed the project, with the support of Access Entertainment and BBC Films.
The Iron Claw is only the latest movie on Efron’s busy slate. He starred in Gold and Firestarter earlier this year and is attached to several more projects. We’ll soon get to see him in the war drama The Greatest Beer Run Ever and Disney’s remake of Three Men and a Baby.
