Coco Chanel and Christian Dior went down in history as two of the most iconic fashion designers of all time, but they were once fierce rivals. Apple TV’s new series The New Look will chronicle their journey to take the fashion world by storm in World War II-era Paris.
According to the streamer’s official synopsis, “this emotionally thrilling series reveals the shocking story of how fashion icon Christian Dior and his contemporaries, including Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, and Cristóbal Balenciaga, navigated the horrors of World War II and launched modern fashion.”
Christian Dior will be the pivotal figure in this series, which will provide a stunning view into the atelier, designs, and clothing created by the iconic designer, while also shedding light on his rivalry with Coco Chanel, whose reign as the world’s leading fashion designer is put into jeopardy in the face of Dior’s success.
In addition to Ben Mendelsohn and Juliette Binoche, The New Look will also star Maisie Williams, John Malkovich, Emily Mortimer, Claes Bang, Glenn Close, Hugo Becker, Thomas Poitevin, and Nuno Lopes in supporting roles.
The first three episodes of The New Look will arrive on Apple TV+ on February 14, while the remaining seven will stream weekly on Wednesdays.
