Will Smith is involved in a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot, but this time, there’s a twist.

Since starring on the legendary 90s TV show, Smith has starred in countless blockbuster movies. In the show, Smith’s character is taken out of a rough neighborhood to live with his rich uncle and aunt in Bel-Air. Years later, this is the role Smith is most strongly associated with.

Now, Smith has confirmed that he is involved in a Fresh Prince reboot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is collaborating with short filmmaker Megan Cooper to create a brand new drama series called Bel-Air.

Smith will executive produce the show alongside the original show producers Quincy Jones and Benny Medina and creators Andy and Susan Borowitz. Cooper will co-write the script.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the upcoming show will “dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases of what it means to be a Black man in America today, while still delivering the swagger and fun nods to the original show.”

The reboot sounds like it will have a powerful message in addition to giving fans a chance to return to the world of Bel-Air.
