The post Margot Robbie Shares Her Thoughts About Potential “Barbie” Sequel appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Robbie discussed what’s to come for Barbie in a recent interview with The Associated Press and shot down the possibility of coming back for another Barbie film.
“I think we put everything into this one. We didn’t build it to be a trilogy or something. Greta put everything into this movie, so I can’t imagine what would be next,” said Robbie.
The director Greta Gerwig initially felt the same way and told Time she didn’t want to fall into the trap of trying to set up a first movie whilst also planning for sequels. Despite the fact she didn’t write Barbie with a potential follow-up in mind, she’s not opposed to the possibility either.
“There’s a tone and a humor and a joy, and obviously the world is so beautiful. I want to go back to Barbie Land,” she later told People.
Barbie hit the theaters on July 21 and grossed $1.44 billion worldwide, setting several box office records along the way.

In addition to Robbie and Gosling, the star-studded cast of this highly-anticipated project will also include America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Nicola Coughlan, Dua Lipa, and Helen Mirren. Greta Gerwig directed the film and co-wrote it with Noah Baumbach after Robbie convinced her to come on board.
The new trailer also gave us the first snippet of Dua Lipa’s new song “Dance the Night” and a new version of Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” featuring Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj. Charli XCX, Ava Max, Tame Impala, and Haim also wrote music for the film’s splashy soundtrack.

]]>The official logline describes this film as an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles and a tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, which traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.
Babylon is set during Hollywood’s big transition from silent films to talkies, and it centers on a young Mexican-American actor (played by newcomer Diego Calva) pursuing a career in 20s Hollywood, starting as an assistant and rising through the ranks.
In addition to Pitt, Robbie, and Calva, the star-studded cast of Babylon also includes Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, Jean Smart, P.J. Byrne, Lukas Haas, Tobey Maguire, Max Minghella, Katherine Waterston, Samara Weaving, and Olivia Wilde. The film focuses on a mixture of fictional and historical characters, including Pitt’s wild mega-star Jack Conrad and Robbie’s up-and-coming actress and party animal Nellie LaRoy.
Babylon will have its limited theatrical release on December 25, before expanding wide two weeks later.

]]>This project is still in the early stages of development and it’s based on the script penned by Carrie Solomon. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the action will take place in Europe in the 1960s. The four-time Emmy winner Jay Roach (Bombshell) is expected to come on board as director. Production will most likely kick off next spring, but Warner Bros is yet to officially confirm the project.
The original Ocean’s Eleven franchise, starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts, launched with the release of the first film in 2001. It was followed by sequels Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), and female-centric spinoff Ocean’s 8 (2018).
Robbie was first linked to the project when it was initially announced back in May. If Gosling officially joins her, this will mark their second collaboration following Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, where he plays Ken. The two-time Oscar nominee most recently appeared in Netflix action flick The Gray Man, and he’s attached to upcoming films The Fall Guy, Wolfman, The Actor, and Project Hail Mary.

]]>According to its official logline, Amsterdam is “a fascinating and richly intricate tale that brilliantly weaves historical fact with fiction” and it centers on “three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history.”
The first trailer tells us the backstory of the three main characters, played by Bale, Robbie, and Washington. After forming a pact to protect each other during their days in the army, they’re put on a test after being accused of a murder that they didn’t commit… or so they claim.
As always, O. Russell managed to ensemble a start-studded project that includes many A-list actors, besides the main trio. Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Taylor Swift, Zoe Saldaña, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro are also set to star.
Amsterdam is the director’s first film since 2015 when he released Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence. It’s set to premiere on November 4, just in time for awards season!

]]>Emma Mackey disused the experience of working on this project with Empire Magazine and dropped some hints about the role she’ll play in the film.
“Right in the beginning, we had a sleepover for the Barbies, which would involve playing games with Scott [Evans] and Ncuti [Gatwa]. I don’t play games usually, because I get so competitive and angry. But Scott and I were top of the game,” said Mackey.
Judging by her statement, she’s set to play one of the iterations of Barbie, and it’s believed that Issa Rae, Alexandra Shipp, and Hari Nef will do the same. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling will portray Barbie and Ken, while the rest of the cast includes America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.
Mackey also disused the experience of working with Gerwig with Empire, describing her as “invested and precise” and “so childishly delighted by what she’s doing.” Barbie marks the follow-up to her adaptation of Little Women and it’s set to be released on July 21, 2023.

]]>The movie inspired the 2001 remake in which George Clooney played the titular role of Danny Ocean, and was joined by Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. Two sequels followed—titled Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, as well as an all-female spin-off called Ocean’s 8 that featured Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna amongst its stellar cast.
A new remake is now reportedly on the cards with Margot Robbie tapped for the lead role. The Barbie actress is also rumored to be producing the film which will be helmed by Jay Roach who directed her in Bombshell.
In a nod to the original, the new Ocean’s Eleven will once again be set in the ‘60s, albeit in Europe.
Although the project has yet to be officially greenlit by Warner Bros., it is expected that shooting will begin next year.

]]>Margot Robbie’s reputation as a blonde bombshell naturally made her the perfect fit to bring Mattel’s doll to life in the upcoming film from Greta Gerwig.
Not only will the Suicide Squad actress be starring in the titular role, but she will be producing the feature as well. The Australian described the project as “Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn’t know you wanted.”
And apparently, that now includes Ryan Gosling (how did they know?!)
The La La Land star is in final negotiations to portray Barbie’s love interest, Ken.
According to Deadline, Gosling had initially passed on the role, but reconsidered once his schedule opened up following a delay in the movie’s pre-production process.
Filming is scheduled to begin next year.
