The post Varada Sethu to Join “Doctor Who” as Ncuti Gatwa’s Second Companion appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The rumors about Varada Sethu’s casting started circling around back in January when Millie Gibson’s potential exit made the headlines. It eventually turned out that Gibson isn’t stepping down after all – she’ll be back as Ruby Sunday next season, with Sethu joining her as the Doctor’s second companion.
Sethu said she feels like the luckiest person in the world after her casting was announced, and added she’s “grateful to the whole Doctor Who family – because that is what they are – for welcoming [her] with open arms and making [her] feel so at home.”
Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, who previously worked with Sethu on BBC’s adaptation of Midsummer Night’s Dream, said it’s a joy to welcome her on board and promised the stakes will be higher than ever once she boards the Tardis.
Ncuti Gatwa’s first full season of Doctor Who will premiere on May 10 on Disney+ in the US and on May 11 on BBC in the UK. It will debut with the first two episodes, while the remaining six will air weekly.

Swift also won awards for pop artist of the year, best lyrics (“Is It Over Now?”), TikTok Bop of the Year (“Cruel Summer”), tour of the year, and favorite tour style for The Eras Tour.
Despite being the night’s top winner, Swift failed to win the trophy for song of the year with “Cruel Summer”. SZA was crowned as the winner in this category with “Kill Bill”, beating the likes of Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, and Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red”.
The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards took place on April 1 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with Ludacris hosting the show. Beyoncé showed up to pick up the Innovator Award, while Cher was honored with the iHeartRadio Icon Award.

]]>The post “Euphoria” Season 3 Gets Hit With Another Delay, Still Eyeing 2025 Release appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Rumors about the show’s potential cancelation recently started circulating on the internet, and HBO’s representatives decided to address them head-on.
“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season. In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities,” reads HBO’s official statement to Deadline.
The network remains committed to delivering Season 3 in 2025, but the future of the hit teen drama remains murky. Deadline reports that its creator Sam Levinson is still finalizing the script and it remains unclear when the production will kick off.
Many Euphoria stars moved on to other projects since the show’s second season in 2022. Zendaya appeared in the Dune franchise and will soon lead Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, Jacob Elordi starred in last year’s Saltburn and Priscilla, Sydney Sweeney led Reality, Anyone but You, and Immaculate, while Hunter Schafer landed roles in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Cuckoo, and Kinds of Kindness.
Euphoria also stars Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Nika King, Storm Reid, and Colman Domingo. Barbie Ferreira announced her departure ahead of Season 3, while Angus Cloud tragically passed away last year.

]]>The post 2024 BAFTA TV Awards: “The Crown” & “Black Mirror” Lead Nominations appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The Crown ended with a bang last year after six seasons, and BAFTA TV Awards voters honored its final season with eight nominations. Surprisingly enough, the best drama series wasn’t one of them, and The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy made the cut instead.
That didn’t stop The Crown from scoring four nods in the acting categories, for Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw. It also secured four more nominations in the craft field, including best costume design, makeup/hair design, sound, and special effects.
It was also a great day for Netflix’s anthology series Black Mirror, which has been nominated for seven BAFTA TV Awards. Its episode “Demon 79” is one of the main contenders for best limited drama award, while its star Anjana Vasan received a nomination for best leading actress.
The 2024 British Academy Television Awards will take place on May 12 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

]]>Lipa has been teasing the release of Radical Optimism since last fall when she gave us a taste of things to come with the lead single “Houdini”. Many months have passed since, and she finally shared all the important info about this album, including its title, release date, tracklist, and cover.
The cover art shows Lipa relaxing in the ocean while a shark swims around her, and it perfectly conveys the thought behind its title Radical Optimism.
“A couple of years ago, a friend introduced me to the term Radical Optimism […] and I became more curious as I started to play with it and weave it into my life. It struck me – the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm,” said Lipa in a statement.
Radical Optimism will come out on May 3, and it will feature 11 brand-new songs. “Houdini” was released as its lead single, followed by “Training Season”, which Lipa teased during her performance at this year’s Grammy Awards.

]]>Inside Out 2 will take us back to the mind of newly-minted teenager Riley, and things are about to get messy as she reaches adolescence. Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Tony Hale replacing Bill Hader), and Disgust (Liza Lapira), have been running things on their own for quite some time until new emotions came into the equation and started stirring trouble.
Maya Hawke has previously been announced as the voice of Anxiety, and she’ll be in some pretty good company. Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Paul Walter Hauser are the latest actors added to the cast, as voices of Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment.
As for the rest of the voice cast, Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan are coming back as Riley’s parents, and they’ll be joined by Kensington Tallman as teenage Riley, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green and Grace Lu as her best friends, and Lilimar Hernandez as popular hockey player Valentina “Val” Ortiz.
Inside Out 2 will hit the theaters on June 14, while the first film is available on Disney+.

]]>Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) will play the loyal solider Manny, whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and fears. Ariela Barer (How To Blow Up a Pipeline, Runaways) will star as Mel, a young doctor who tries to stay committed to saving lives in the face of war and tribalism.
Tati Gabrielle (You, Kaleidoscope) will join them as a military medic Nora, who’s still trying to come to terms with the sins of her past. Spencer Lord (Heartland, Family Law) will play Owen, described as a gentle soul trapped in a warrior’s body.
Even before these four actors hopped on board, the second season of The Last of Us was already shaping up to be a star-studded affair. Kaitlyn Dever (Unbelievable), Young Mazino (Beef), and Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold ) joined the cast as Abby, Jesse, and Dina, while Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) was cast in a mystery guest role.

Taylor Swift led the way in the music categories with four wins, including the coveted female artist of the year award. She also won trophies for the pop artist of the year, the social celebrity of the year, and the concert tour of the year with The Eras Tour.
As for the TV field, The Kardashians, The Last of Us, and Only Murders in the Building topped the list of winners with two awards each. Despite their huge success, they failed to win the night’s shiniest trophy—the show of the year—which went to Grey’s Anatomy.

]]>The post Stephen Amell Lands Lead Role in NBC’s “Suits L.A.” Pilot appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Amell will lead the series in the role of Ted Black, the former New York federal prosecutor who left his old life behind to start a new law firm in Los Angeles. The pilot catches up with him 15 years later, and here’s what it has in store, according to NBC’s official logline:
“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career… All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”
Black will be joined by a group of characters who are constantly testing their loyalties to each other and can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. Casting is underway, and the production will kick off in Vancouver, Canada in late March.
Victoria Mahoney will direct the pilot and serve as one of its executive producers, alongside Suits creator Aaron Korsh and his fellow EPs David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein.

]]>The post Varada Sethu to Join “Doctor Who” as Ncuti Gatwa’s Second Companion appeared first on EverydayKoala.

]]>The post 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards: Taylor Swift Picks Up Top Prizes appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Swift was nominated for nine awards this year, and only ended up losing in three categories, Most notably, she picked up the trophy for the artist of the year, beating tough competition in SZA, Drake, Miley Cyrus, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Usher, and Morgan Wallen.

]]>The post Dua Lipa’s Shares Major Information About Her New Album “Radical Optimism” appeared first on EverydayKoala.

]]>The post New “Inside Out 2” Trailer Sees Riley Struggling to Cope With New Emotions appeared first on EverydayKoala.

]]>The cast of Oppenheimer defeated American Fiction, Barbie, The Color Purple, and Killers of the Flower Moon to win the ceremony’s main award – the outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.
Its stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. continued their award sweep in their respective individual categories, and they were joined by Lily Gladstone (best lead actress for Killers of the Flower Moon) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (best supporting actress for The Holdovers).
After conquering the Emmys and the Golden Globes, The Bear continued its domination at the SAG Awards. It emerged victorious in three categories: outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series plus individual acting accolades for its stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri.
The final season of Succession shockingly underperformed, only winning the trophy for the outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Individual awards in the TV drama field went to Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown).

]]>Barbie was the most-nominated movie of the night with eight nods, and it walked away with five awards, including the movie of the year prize. It was also named the comedy movie of the year, while its stars Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie, and America Ferrera all won awards in their respective categories.
The 2024 People’s Choice Awards were held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on February 18, with Simu Liu hosting the ceremony.
