We’ve seen many popular products inspire amazing movies chronicling their origin stories, and Pop-Tarts are the next ones in line! Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story is coming to Netflix this May, and the streamer teased its release with a first trailer starring Jerry Seinfeld and Melissa McCarthy.

Netflix describes Unfrosted as “a tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar, and menacing milkmen” taking place in Michigan in 1963. Sworn cereal rivals Kellogg’s and Post embark on another quest to prove their domination by creating a pastry that will change the face of breakfast.

Unfrosted will mark Seinfeld’s feature film directorial debut, and he also co-wrote the script alongside Spike Feresten, Barry Marder, and Andy Robin. Seinfeld told Netflix that he initially joked about making a Pop-Tarts film with Feresten, but they realized that its origin story was actually quite intriguing once they started doing research and learning more about its history.

In addition to Seinfeld in the lead role, the star-studded cast of Unfrosted also includes Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Bobby Moynihan, Maria Bakalova, Max Greenfield, Bill Burr, Dan Levy, Christian Slater, and Hugh Grant.

Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story will start streaming on Netflix on May 3.

Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick have proven themselves as quite a dynamic duo in A Simple Favor, and they’re coming back for another round! Amazon MGM Studios officially ordered A Simple Favor 2, and several members of the original cast agreed to return for the sequel.

Based on Darcey Bell’s book of the same name, A Simple Favor told the tale of a small-town vlogger who finds herself wrapped up in an investigation involving her mysterious rich friend. Paul Feig directed the first film, and he’s returning to helm the sequel, while Jessica Sharzer came back to write the script.

A Simple Favor 2 will also feature many familiar faces in front of the camera. Kendrick and Lively will return in the lead roles, and they won’t be alone. The film’s supporting cast includes the original cast members Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack.

Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) will head to Capri, Italy for their next adventure. Emily’s getting ready to host an extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman, but the film’s official logline promises “more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square”, with murder and betrayal awaiting those who dare to RSVP.

The creative partnership between Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos is a gift that keeps on giving, and they’re gearing up to release another film together. Searchlight Pictures dropped the first trailer for Lanthimos’ anthology film Kinds of Kindness, and Stone leads its A-list cast.

Kinds of Kindness is a triptych fable that chronicles the journey of three different characters. We’ll follow a story of a man trying to take control of his own life, a policeman whose wife seems to be a different person after being lost at sea and coming back home, and a woman who’s trying to find a special individual who’s destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.

Kinds of Kindness will reunite Stone with her frequent collaborator Yorgos Lanthimos, following the success of their most recent collaboration Poor Things, which won Stone her second Oscar. This film also marks the reunion between Lanthimos and screenwriter Efthimis Filippou, who also co-wrote his films The Lobster and Killing of a Sacred Deer

This film will also star several of Lanthimos’ past collaborators, including Poor Things’ Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley and The Favourite’s Joe Alwyn. Hong Chau (The Whale), Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) also star.

Kinds of Kindness will hit the theatres on June 21 via Searchlight Pictures.

Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers still hasn’t hit the theaters, but he’s already plotting his next star-studded project. The Oscar winner Julia Roberts landed a lead role in Guadagnino’s upcoming Amazon MGM Studios dramatic thriller After the Hunt.

Roberts will play “a college professor, who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star pupil levels an accusation against one of her colleagues and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come to light,” according to the film’s official logline.

Nora Garrett wrote the script for this project, while Allan Mandelbaum brought it to Imagine Entrainment and played a crucial role in getting it to Guadagnino and Roberts. He’s producing the project alongside Guadagnino and Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer.

Amazon MGM Studios landed the hot package after collaborating with Guadagnino on Challengers. The sports drama, set in the world of tennis, stars Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, and it’s hitting the theaters on April 16.

As for Roberts, she most recently starred alongside Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke in Netflix’s hit thriller Leave the World Behind. This film reunited her with Sam Esmail, who previously worked with Roberts on the Amazon Prime Video series Homecoming, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

Tim Burton’s ’80s classic Beetlejuice is coming back for its long-awaited sequel, and we finally know what it has in store. The first trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is here, and it sees Michael Keaton getting ready to wreak havoc as our favorite chaotic ghost.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sees three generations of the Deetz women returning to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy. The trouble starts when Lydia’s rebellious teenage daughter Astrid accidently opens a portal to the Afterlife.

“With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem,” reads the film’s official logline.

In addition to Keaton as Beetlejuice, this long-awaited sequel will also mark the return of Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara as Lydia and Delia Deetz. Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) will join them as Lydia’s daughter Astrid, along with Willem Dafoe (Poor Things), Justin Theroux (The Leftovers), Burn Gorman (Turn: Washington’s Spies), and Monica Bellucci (Matrix franchise).

Tim Burton came back as the director of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, while the Wednesday duo Alfred Gough and Miles Millar wrote the script. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film theatrically on September 6.

The Alien franchise is alive and kicking, and its next sequel will take us on one epic journey. The first trailer for Alien: Romulus finally hit the shelves, and it’s inviting us to explore the depths of space with a new group of young space travelers.

Alien: Romulus is set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), and it follows a group of young space colonizers who must face the most terrifying life form in the universe on their journey to the deep ends of a derelict space station.

The cast of this project is led by Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) and Isabela Merced (Madame Web), who are joined by David Jonsson (Rye Lane), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu in supporting roles.

Fede Álvarez (Don’t Breathe) took over from Ridley Scott as the director of the new film, and he promises it will be a real treat for both Alien fans and newcomers to the franchise.

“I love all of those movies. I didn’t want to omit or ignore any of them when it comes to connections at a story level, character level, technology level, and creature level. There’s always connections from Alien to Alien: Covenant,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Alien: Romulus will be released by 20th Century Studio on August 16, after switching from streaming to theatrical releasse.

Ari Aster’s films always feature an impressive ensemble, but his next project will certainly be the most star-studded one yet. Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler will star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in Aster’s upcoming A24 film Eddington.

Phoenix previously collaborated with Aster on Beau Is Afraid, and they’re gearing up for another collaboration. The Oscar-winner will lead his next film Eddington, and he’ll be joined by the two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone (Poor Things), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (Dune: Part Two), and Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us).

In addition to these four A-list stars, the supporting cast of this project will also include Luke Grimes (Yellowstone), Deirdre O’Connell (Outer Range), Micheal Ward (Top Boy), and Clifton Collins Jr. (Jockey).

Aster previously discussed Eddington in one of his Reddit AMAs and said he’s been plotting a Western-noir dark ensemble comedy for years. He described it as a “revisionist Western” that’s “one foot in the Western and one foot is even more heavily in the noir genre.”

Eddington will mark Aster’s fourth A24 film following horrors Hereditary and Midsommar and tragicomedy Beau Is Afraid. In addition to writing and directing it, he’ll also be credited as a producer with his Square Peg partner Lars Knudsen.

Riley Andersen has come a long way since we met her in Inside Out, and we’ll finally catch up with her in the new sequel. Pixar dropped a new trailer for Inside Out 2, which sees the teenage Riley struggling to come to terms with confusing new emotions.

Inside Out 2 will take us back to the mind of newly-minted teenager Riley, and things are about to get messy as she reaches adolescence. Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Tony Hale replacing Bill Hader), and Disgust (Liza Lapira), have been running things on their own for quite some time until new emotions came into the equation and started stirring trouble.

Maya Hawke has previously been announced as the voice of Anxiety, and she’ll be in some pretty good company. Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Paul Walter Hauser are the latest actors added to the cast, as voices of Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment.

As for the rest of the voice cast, Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan are coming back as Riley’s parents, and they’ll be joined by Kensington Tallman as teenage Riley, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green and Grace Lu as her best friends, and Lilimar Hernandez as popular hockey player Valentina “Val” Ortiz.

Inside Out 2 will hit the theaters on June 14, while the first film is available on Disney+.
